How it works, from the site visit to the install
Here the site visit is mostly about confirming what stays: the stringer, the treads, and sometimes the post anchors.
A railing drawn, built and installed by the same team.
We take the dimensions from the nose of the tread, regulated height included, and we note what can stay in place. Nothing is drawn before that visit.
You get a dimensioned drawing and a firm price: infill, handrail, fixings. Nothing is cut until you approve it.
Everything is made in Granby, in our own shop. Count six to eight weeks between the approved drawing and the install. We check the dimensions a second time once the parts are laid out.
Our own crew installs it, in one to three days. No subcontractor: the same people from start to finish.
In Chambly, the railing ages faster than the staircase.
In a house built after 1990 the staircase is usually sound: the stringer does not work, the treads hold, nothing creaks underfoot. What has aged badly is the barrier put up as part of the original build — catalogue turned posts, a thin grip, a stain gone yellow. So we get called for a new railing on a flight nobody intends to take out, and that is the least expensive scenario we handle. The site visit is then there to confirm what stays. What we look at first in your photographs
Give us the address and, if you know it, the year the house went up. In Chambly that alone places the likely height of the barrier you have now and the way the posts were fixed at the outset.
Then tell us whether the flight is staying and whether the barrier also runs along an upstairs landing. The site measurement comes afterwards, and the team that builds it is the team that fits it.

We measure the opening at your home, set out the rise and run, and settle the wood species and the railing. The project is fixed before a single piece is cut.

Milled at the workshop, in hardwood. Every staircase is built for its own opening: nothing is assembled in series or pulled from stock.
Installation
Installed by our own team, in one to three days. Adjustments are made on site, against the real opening rather than the drawing.

And if the flight itself needs rebuilding?
Around the basin and the old core there remain houses from before 1970 where the flight is exactly as old as the barrier. Those addresses make up only a small share of the Chambly stock, but they are best handled in one go.
