How it works, from the site visit to the install
The site visit measures the existing height and checks what the posts are actually fixed into. Nothing is assumed.
A railing drawn, built and installed by the same team.
We take the dimensions from the nose of the tread, regulated height included, and we note what can stay in place. Nothing is drawn before that visit.
You get a dimensioned drawing and a firm price: infill, handrail, fixings. Nothing is cut until you approve it.
Everything is made in Granby, in our own shop. Count six to eight weeks between the approved drawing and the install. We check the dimensions a second time once the parts are laid out.
Our own crew installs it, in one to three days. No subcontractor: the same people from start to finish.
In Saint-Jean, the height of the guard gives away the age of the neighbourhood.
The five sectors joined in 2001 were not built at the same time, and the first place you see it is the barrier running along the stairs. In Vieux-Saint-Jean and Iberville the original railings are low, the balusters close together, the grip thin. In the later Saint-Luc subdivisions the height comes closer to what is required today, but the posts were often screwed into the finish rather than into the structure. Two different problems, two different jobs, and the site visit is what tells you which one is yours. Made in Granby, installed by our own crew, anywhere in Montérégie.

The name of the neighbourhood already tells us a great deal
Before the length to be covered, tell us where the house stands and, if you know it, roughly what year it went up. That points to the likely height of the railing you have now and to the way the posts were fixed at the outset.
Then say whether the flight is being kept or replaced, and whether the barrier also runs along an upstairs landing. The site measurement follows, and the workshop that builds the piece is the one that installs it.

We subcontract neither the manufacturing nor the installation. The same team measures, mills and installs — and that is what allows us to correct on site the discrepancies no drawing ever anticipates.
Design
We measure the opening at your home, set out the rise and run, and settle the wood species and the railing. The project is fixed before a single piece is cut.
Manufacturing
Milled at the workshop, in hardwood. Every staircase is built for its own opening: nothing is assembled in series or pulled from stock.
Installation
Installed by our own team, in one to three days. Adjustments are made on site, against the real opening rather than the drawing.
Restoration
Straight, winder or spiral, classic or modern — measured at your home, milled at the workshop, installed by our team.

And if the flight itself needs rebuilding?
On a flight whose treads are hollowed and noisy, a new barrier only puts the contrast on display. Where both date from the same decade, it is usually simpler to deal with them together.
