A contemporary residence in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, opened outside by large glass beams looking at the pool and the surrounding trees. The stairs had to connect two levels without increasing the double height of the stay, while assuming the direct exposure to the daylight.
A stringer in zigzag, treads suspended
Each walk in hardwood is based on a stringer of black steel mat folded in zigzag, which follows the curtain without ever touching the wall. The treads appears to float above the empty, visible both from the ground floor and from the landing above.
Perforated panels to filter light
Instead of a full railing, perforated steel panels dress the whole roll: they let light and view pass through the outdoor pool while ensuring regulatory safety. At the landing above, a glass railing takes the relay to preserve transparency to the ceiling.
