In Varennes, this winder staircase is set beneath handsome visible wooden posts, in a dark brown shade that gives character to the open space. The descent to the lower floor is done in full view of the room. The treads of hardwood rely on stringers of wood stained in the same deep tone, with open risers that relieve the roll.
