Spiral staircase in maple on Central Stringer of steel to treads open

In Boucherville, this spiral staircase rotates around a black steel Central Stringer, like a spinal column around which the treads rotates. The effect is both sculptural and practical in a compact space. The treads, left in their natural blonde shade, are cut into a range to marry the curve. The absence of risers leaves the vacuum under each step and relieves the whole structure. The staircase occupies little space on its unique stringer steel while offering a mountain to the mountain.
