On a mezzanine above a lake, the guard sits right on the skyline: it has to close several metres of opening without taking anything away from the view. We rebuild and make guards, balusters and hardwood handrails for interior staircases, with the infill that lets the landscape through.

How it works, from the site visit to the install
Over a long span the site visit decides how many posts you need, and that is what sets the price. It is done in full before anything is quoted.
A railing drawn, built and installed by the same team.
We take the dimensions from the nose of the tread, regulated height included, and we note what can stay in place. Nothing is drawn before that visit.
You get a dimensioned drawing and a firm price: infill, handrail, fixings. Nothing is cut until you approve it.
Everything is made in Granby, in our own shop. Count six to eight weeks between the approved drawing and the install. We check the dimensions a second time once the parts are laid out.
Our own crew installs it, in one to three days. No subcontractor: the same people from start to finish.
In Magog, the drop to close isn’t three metres. It’s ten.
Big lots, open houses, long indoor galleries: here the run stretches far beyond a suburban landing return. Every extra metre calls for another post and another load to carry, and that is what sets the price, far more than the infill you pick. Hence the order of things: we measure the full span, we test the end posts, then we quote. It is all milled in Granby and installed on site, here as anywhere in Estrie.

Two photographs and three measurements
The gap between two posts, the present height of the handrail and the material of the infill already tell us whether the work stays light. The total length of the stretch involved completes the picture.
Do say which part is concerned: the mezzanine gallery, the climb, or the whole of it. That sets how many pieces go through the workshop, and the schedule follows.
From the first measurement to the last tread, one team.
We subcontract neither the manufacturing nor the installation. The same team measures, mills and installs — and that is what allows us to correct on site the discrepancies no drawing ever anticipates.
Design
We measure the opening at your home, set out the rise and run, and settle the wood species and the railing. The project is fixed before a single piece is cut.
Manufacturing
Milled at the workshop, in hardwood. Every staircase is built for its own opening: nothing is assembled in series or pulled from stock.
Installation
Installed by our own team, in one to three days. Adjustments are made on site, against the real opening rather than the drawing.
Restoration
Straight, winder or spiral, classic or modern — measured at your home, milled at the workshop, installed by our team.

And if the flight itself needs rebuilding?
When the play comes from the load-bearing parts rather than from what sits on top of them, changing the infill settles nothing. At that point the staircase itself goes back into production, on a lead time and a budget of another order.
