How it works, from the site visit to the install

Putting a staircase into a house already renovated means protecting what has only just been finished. The sequence does not change; the precautions do.

We measure at your place

A basement staircase does not count as a main staircase

The free height is almost always more appropriate, because a basement rarely offers the same clearance as a floor. This constraint goes back directly to the layout: a straight staircase requires a lot of ground length, while a quarter turn folds the fly and frees the passage at the foot of the climb.

The second point is the clearance at the finish, both at the top and at the bottom, you have to be able to stand and turn with an object in your hands. This is what we check first at the reading, before we even talk about wood species or railing, because this is what eliminates or validates possible paths.

A secondary staircase deserves the same hardwood and finish as the main staircase, it works less, but it ages in the same humidity conditions, and nothing is more visible than a secondary staircase that is obviously less well finished than the main one, especially when the two are seen from the same room.
