Our workshop is in Montérégie, and that’s where all the stairs we install in Greater Montreal are made. The measurement is done at your home, the machining and the finishing are done at the workshop, and the same team comes back for the installation. Neither the manufacture nor the installation are entrusted to a third party, which avoids the responsibility when an adjustment is required on site.
In urban environments, one constraint takes precedence over all the others: access. A staircase arrives largely assembled, in long and heavy pieces. The width of the front door, the winder of the corridor, the presence of an intermediate landing or an elevator determine what can enter in one piece and what will have to be assembled on site.

Access to the construction site is checked before stopping the route
This is the measurement that is most often forgotten, and the one that costs the most when missing. A single-piece stringer can be several meters long. If it doesn’t pass the door or the turn of the corridor, it must either be designed in two parts assembled on site, or the manufacturing method must be revised. This decision is made at the measurement, not on the day of delivery.
Parking and unloading windows are also important in dense areas, they don’t change the way we manufacture, but they change the way we plan the day of installation. We prefer to talk about it right from the survey rather than discovering the problem with the truck in front of the building.
The rest is no different from a suburban project: the height to be crossed, the stairwell opening and the clearances control the layout.

Do you deliver a staircase assembled or in parts?
When access is not possible, we design the wing in sections assembled on site, and this decision is made by surveying. The end result is the same; it is the manufacturing method that adapts to the access path. So we measure the doors and the winder at the same time as the cage.
What should be provided in a condominium?
Two things that are not within our control: the authorization of the union when the work affects a common part or the structure, and the time slots for work provided for in the building regulations, which it is better to check before setting a date for installation, because they condition the entire day.
How long is the staircase unusable?
When you replace a staircase, you have to consider the day of installation and the drying time of the finish if it is finished on site. When the staircase is the only access to the floor, this is the first point to plan for, and we apply most of the finish in the workshop to reduce this downtime, and we plan the sequence of work with you before the installation day.
Do you also do basement stairs?
